A lifelong musician, Lauren Wanamaker is a singer/songwriter originally from Washington State. Brought up on the music of Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Yusuf / Cat Stevens, she began writing and performing original music at a young age, gaining additional experience in school bands and church ensembles.
Citing Sufjan Stevens, Adrianne Lenker, and Neko Case as some of her most steadfast inspirations, Wanamaker finds influence in both classic and contemporary folk traditions, aiming to transport listeners through surreal expressions of everyday experiences. A debut EP was released under a former name in 2011, followed by several live appearances in Washington, then an extended hiatus from writing and live performance. Her EP, 'Rest & Reprieve' (2023), is a vocally dominant record with nods to broader Americana and alt-country instrumentation. 'Glitter' is Wanamaker's latest 5-song EP, released on March 14, 2025.
Reminiscent of pioneers like Joan Baez and Patty Griffin, her live performance has drawn comparisons to contemporaries such as Brandi Carlile, Julia Jacklin, Natalie Merchant, Jewel and Sierra Ferrell. Together, Wanamaker's evocative vocals and classic songwriting will carry you through a fresh, modern take on good old-fashioned folk.
