Lauren Wanamaker is a folk artist originally from Washington State. Citing Sufjan Stevens, Adrianne Lenker, and Neko Case as some of her most steadfast inspirations, Wanamaker finds influence in both classic and contemporary folk traditions, aiming to transport listeners through surreal expressions of everyday life.

A debut EP was released under a former name in 2011, followed by live appearances in the Pacific Northwest, then a subsequent hiatus from writing and live performance. Reemerging under the moniker Woman Alive in 2019, Wanamaker began performing again regionally and released her EP, Rest & Reprieve in early 2023, the first under her full name. A vocally dominant record with nods to broader Americana and alt-country instrumentation, Rest & Reprieve quickly amassed Wanamaker a local following, earning her a spot in the inaugural Uptown Get Down Festival alongside Afroman, sold-out Sofar shows in Boise and Seattle, a Quilt Sessions performance by Northwest Folklife in Seattle, a front-page profile by the Tri-City Herald and a headlining performance at the region’s largest art festival, Art in the Park.

After regional touring in support of Rest & Reprieve in 2023 and 2024, Wanamaker relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in late 2024 and released a 5-song EP, Glitter in March 2025. Exploring themes of family, spirituality, grief and identity through a more honed blend of roots and folk genres, Glitter has been praised for its authenticity, introspection and personal subject matter, establishing Wanamaker as an important emerging voice in the new folk sphere. Her live performance has drawn comparisons to contemporaries such as Brandi Carlile, Julia Jacklin, Natalie Merchant, Jewel and Sierra Ferrell. Ultimately, Wanamaker's evocative vocals and classic songwriting will carry you through a fresh, modern take on good old-fashioned folk.
